Award-Winning Simpson? Nantucket? Collection Wood Doors Now Available in More Species

McCleary, Wash. (PRWEB) May 16, 2012

Simpson? Door Company has expanded its Nantucket? Collection exterior wood doors to include Douglas Fir and Sapele Mahogany, adding to the existing Black Locust and Nootka Cypress options. Simpson Nantucket Collection wood doors are an award-winning combination of historic charm and modern technology. Named Window & Door magazines 2011 Most Innovative Door, Nantucket Collection wood doors are made to endure demanding climates and will maintain their allure long after installation. Multiple door designs and wood species make the collection a fit for any architectural style and budget. http://www.simpsondoor.com

Simpson manufactures the Nantucket Collection using two-piece laminated stile and rail construction with a modified mortise-and-tenon joinery technique for superior performance. The tenons and face-driven pins are always made of Black Locust, a hearty wood suitable for the worst of Mother Nature. The pins give the doors an eye-catching aesthetic, while helping to eliminate stile and rail separation.

Sapele Mahogany, Black Locust and Nootka Cypress doors come with a 10-year limited warranty. Nantucket doors in Douglas Fir have a 5-year warranty. The Nantucket Collection warranties do not require the doors to be installed under a building overhang.

With a ribbon grain and reddish-brown color, the new Sapele Mahogany doors complement a variety of high-end traditional and modern looks. The new Douglas Fir doors offer a tight, vertical grain and a classic aesthetic that accents any design where the warm coloring of wood is desired. The Nootka Cypress doors have a fine grain and honey color, while Black Locust offers a distinctive wild grain pattern and rustic charm.

Nantucket Collection doors have had a great reception among homeowners, builders and architects, said Brad Loveless, Marketing and Product Development manager for Simpson Door Company. They increase the applications for which beautiful, natural wood doors can be used, as they dont require an overhang to maintain their warranty, and are designed to last. The way they are constructed simply makes a better performing door. With these new, more common wood species were able to offer the Nantucket Collection to a wider range of tastes and budgets.

Whole Foods Market Announces Soil Reef in New Line of YouthTrade Products

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) May 15, 2012

Whole Foods? Stores has selected The Biochar Company to sell its Soil Reef organic soil amendment under the new YouthTrade label.

Whole Foods Market is providing marketing opportunities for 30 young entrepreneurs, including Soil Reef, in their 28 North Atlantic stores.

Soil Reef is an organic garden amendment that creates a habitat of natural carbon structures throughout the soil, holding water and nutrients, and creating homes for beneficial microorganisms. It has been shown to increase crop yield and produce bigger, healthier, more robust plants.

Biochar, the primary ingredient in Soil Reef, is based on an Amazonian tradition of soil-building that dates back 2,000 years.

According to Lopa Brunjes, the 29-year-old co-director of The Biochar Company, We are honored to be a founding member of YouthTrade because it facilitates access to markets for conscious, young entrepreneurs.

YouthTrade is a project of YES (Youth Entrepreneurship and Sustainability), inspired by the Conscious Capitalism Institute (CCI), designed to promote entrepreneurship among people under the age of 35 by creating new markets for their products.

The Conscious Capitalism movement holds that trust, compassion, collaboration, and value-creation are essential elements of healthy, functioning economies, and these values are core to how The Biochar Company operates, explains Brunjes. Soil Reef helps create a healthy, functioning soil economy in your backyard. Its about giving back to the soil that sustains and supports human life,” she says.

Soil Reef will be available at 16 Whole Foods stores in the North-Atlantic region in late May. A 3.5 gallon bucket of Soil Reef will enhance 12 sq ft of garden space with a rich amendment of sustainably-produced biochar, organic compost and organic worm castings.

Soil Reef will proudly wear the YouthTrade label on all products, communicating the message of environmental sustainability, along side the message of hope and opportunity for younger generations.

YouthTrade will be a new label, like organic or fair trade, that people can associate themselves with, Brunjes adds. YouthTrade companies are taking it a step further, embodying conscious, triple-bottom-line business principles.

Soil Reef is a proprietary product of The Biochar Company, LLC, a Berwyn, PA company founded in 2011 with a vision to bring the soil-building benefits of biochar to the world at large. To purchase Soil Reef, visit your local Whole Foods and ask them to carry it, or visit Soil Reef. For PR inquiries contact Katie Dubow Katie(at)gardenmediagroup(dot)com 610-444-3040
